Its Not Me It’s You: Self Confidence is a Must

Recently my niece called me and I could tell she was bummed about something. A boy at school that she says she didn’t even like, told her she wasn’t his type.

All of the sudden she was upset, and began asking herself what was bad about her that would cause him to not be attracted to her?

I had to explain to her my philosophy on attraction and self-assurance.

First of all: Be the best of “Your Brand” that you can be, and the person looking for the best of “your type” will be attracted to you. If he’s looking for someone else, don’t be upset; he’s just not the right one for you.

If you are a tall curvy brunette; be that. And be the best at it!

If you are a short peppy blonde…be that!

As long as you represent yourself honestly, it doesn’t matter who is NOT attracted, because the ones that ARE attracted will be attracted to everything about you.

I explained this to her, but she didn’t understand, so I had to put it her terms:

“You like blue jeans right? Well, you could be the most expensive designer pair of jeans that your mother would never buy you, but if he’s looking for khaki shorts: you’re just not his type. There’s nothing wrong with jeans, there’s nothing wrong with your brand, but he’s just not into it…..”

She replied, “Yeah, but don’t you understand? Khaki shorts are lame, and the girls he likes aren’t even cute.”

I answered, “Exactly, good thing he doesn’t like you or you’d be in the lame not cute category. Think about that.”

All of the sudden it made sense. I hope I can help inspire confidence from time to time.

Nothing like a clothes analogy to make you feel better about yourself.
